What is Give No Quarter
Ever since the early 2000's pirate films have been something that is unachievable in fear of being compared to Pirates of the Caribbean. I feel differently about the idea, rather than fear I feel excitement.
Throughout taking my English composition 2 I have learned a lot and I mean a lot about pirates. I have learned what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to pirates. such as that pirates did not actually walk the plank and say aarrgh. This is contrary to what Hollywood would have you believe.
My biggest take away from this course is from my view as a writer. There are so many fantastic characters that are just going to waste waiting to be used and told stories bout during the golden age of piracy. These are stories that the pirates of the Caribbean stories have not even laid a finger on.
Out of characters like black beard, Captian Kidd, and Henery morgan films could easily be made out of their adventures. While all of those options are appetizing my focus draws closer to a female pirate named Anne Bonny.
The general basis for her is that she was born out of wedlock and because of that had to dress like a boy to survive. this carried onto her later life. where she sailed with captain Jack Rackham disguised as a man. There is so much to do with that, I mean the tension of a scene where she is dressed as a man and at any moment could be discovered is so exciting.
The story I am writing will focus on her and a character I made up on my own and will take place after she was captured and escaped prison. Like the pirates of the Caribbean Anne is not the main character, but she will steal the show. The main character is an 18-year-old man named Tom whose life is interrupted by Anne bonny much like Will and Elizabeth's life is interrupted by Jack Sparrow.
The story is called Give No Quarter and will have many hijinks and fun like the pirates of the Caribbean franchise, yet have a completely different story. The sales pitch I would make for the story would be Tom and 18-year-old buy lives with his father in Cuba. He is trying to use every opportunity he can to leave Cuba and sail the Carolina's to find his adoptive brother John Rackham who he believes was taken from him years ago.
His father scarred to lose his only son does everything in his power to stop him from leaving and protect his now only son. While trying to escape Cuba one night. A ship with a stowaway Anne Bonny. She is hiding out after escaping prison where she and her late husband Jack Rackham were captured. the ship she is on sails in and Anne Bonny arrives in Cuba and causes trouble.
